Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust
The Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust launched in 2011 along with the establishment of the local community development service, covering the districts of Ardgay and Creich.
The aim of the Trust is to ensure that long-term, sustainable benefits are achieved throughout the community and the Kyle of Sutherland area. The Trust will focus on how best to utilise funding from local wind farms and renewable energy projects, while ensuring all match funding opportunities are identified and secured.
A priority of the Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust is to oversee the implementation of a local development plan. Focusing on strengthening and uniting the local community through a range of projects. These include, increasing leisure and outdoor activities available to residents and visitors, supporting local businesses and industries including tourism, fishing and food production and increasing education and training opportunities for the residents of the Kyle of Sutherland. The Trust will manage the community development service, ensuring that it meets the needs of the local communities and delivers the plan in an effective and timely manner, while managing a long-term approach to improving the local area.
