10th March 2020, 09:15 to 17:00 @ North Highland College, Ormlie Road, Thurso, Caithness, KW14 7EE
This qualification is for those involved in the sale of alcohol in both on-sales and off-sales environments. It has been developed to comply with Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Alcohol etc. (Scotland) Act 2010. These standards are necessary because of changes in the law which makes them part of the licensed trade’s responsibility – i.e. it is a regulatory requirement.
While the main part of the course is delivered over one day (0930-1700 hrs), including candidates undertaking an assessment at the end of the course, those enrolling will be issued with learning materials by post, prior to attendance on the course. Candidates are expected to study the learning materials prior to coming on the one-day short course, so that they are able to engage fully with the course delivery.
This one-day short course covers three key areas:
- Introduction to licensing
- Responsible operation of licensed premises
- Effect of irresponsible operation on society and health
Achievement of this qualification will enable you to apply to your local council for a Personal Licence (this will incur a fee which you need to pay to your local council). If you are successful on this course you will receive a certificate from SQA, who are the awarding body for the qualification – your local council will need to see a copy of your certificate before they can issue you with your Personal Licence.
