German-Anglo relations are strong, multi-faceted and based on a large number of public, private and civil society links and activities. Germany is among the top five UK trading partners by total trade in goods and the UK imported more from Germany in the first half of 2020 than from any other trading partner.
Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Baden-Württemberg International and WFG Heilbronn are bringing together world-class speakers from Scotland and Germany to focus on the hydrogen revolution and the importance of energy efficiency in the 21st century.
The first of this two-part event will focus on international collaboration, hydrogen in the transport sector, hydrogen from heat and fuel cell development.
Baden-Württemberg is especially known for its strong economy with various industries like car manufacturing, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering but the region is to become a global pioneer in hydrogen. Environment Minister Franz Untersteller outlined a new world in which traffic, industry or the heating sector can manage almost entirely without harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
H2 Aberdeen is an initiative working to bring about a hydrogen economy in the Aberdeen region, seeking to stimulate innovative hydrogen projects and advance the take-up of hydrogen technologies in the city. The overall aim to position Aberdeen as a centre of excellence for hydrogen technology by utilising the transferable oil and gas expertise and the exceptional capacity for renewable energy generation in North-east Scotland.
The Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub is intended to lay the foundations for substantial growth and future investment, unlocking the potential of the region to weave a strong, sustainable hydrogen-based thread into the long-term energy transition. This Hub will help the region achieve its ambitions for net zero and as part of the strategic infrastructure plan.
The £21m green transport Aberdeen Hydrogen Bus Project is ground-breaking as the first multi-sector partnership spearheaded to deliver advancements in sustainable transport while delivering the world’s largest demonstration of hydrogen fuel cell buses.
We’ll bring together interesting keynote speeches, presentations and panel discussions from significant speakers, highlighting the importance of hydrogen helping to fuel the race to net zero. Our speakers will provide success stories, world first concepts and share their knowledge, bringing together sectors, government bodies and industry experts.
