How businesses in the north of Scotland strive to undertake improvement
Sometimes geography can bring its own pressures. Suppliers and customers can be that bit further away compared to competitors who are based around larger centres of population. In addition, it can sometimes be more challenging to attract and retain talented staff. And as one of our speakers has said, even dealing with the implications of the comment ‘you’re based where?…..’ can put a whole different perspective on business relationships!
Interacting with local communities and thoughts for the future
Martin Sutherland, Operations Manager of Beatrice Offshore Windfarm will discuss how their organisation works with local communities
Mary-Jane Statham, the Site Quality Assurance and Management Systems Manager at DSRL will talk about her own personal journey initially leaving the area but ultimately coming back and then dealing with the benefits and challenges of embarking on a major career change, whilst at the same time striving to ensure equality in the workplace in a remote area.
Technology from a rural perspective
Keith Nicholson, founder of Cyber Security Scotland will join us to discuss technology from a rural perspective and how to create a successful business USP and niche market, particularly when your base is next to John O’Groats
The event will include a networking lunch.
