Upcoming Hydrogen Scotland Events: July

Thurs 4 July 09:00-16:00 BST. Network-H2 Research Conference in London

You are invited to attend the Network-H2 Conference 2024 taking place at Bayes Business School, City University, 106 Bunhill Row, London EC1Y 8TZ (in-person only). This free to attend conference will have three main sessions with experts and academics focusing on: Hydrogen Transport Innovation Landscape; Hydrogen Transport Technologies; Policy and Economics. This event covers a broad range of research connected with hydrogen fuelled transport, and anyone interested in this research area to register. The Network for Hydrogen Transportation (Network-H2) has been set-up by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to maximise the impact of UK-funded research and innovation.

Thurs 4 July 14:00-15:00 BST. Aurora Energy webinar on Offtakers’ willingness to pay for low carbon hydrogen

The role of low-carbon hydrogen in decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors is widely recognised, but its deployment is often more expensive than traditional technologies. To bridge this competitiveness gap and overcome adoption hurdles, governments have been crafting support schemes tailored to low-carbon hydrogen technologies. This webinar will explore the evolving landscape of offtakers’ willingness to pay for hydrogen, particularly in the sectors of ammonia production for industrial and chemical use, and crude steel production. It will address the following questions: How can the evolution of willingness to pay for low-carbon hydrogen be estimated for ammonia and crude steel producers?  What are the implications of low-carbon hydrogen consumption targets? What is the potential impact of support schemes on offtakers’ willingness to pay in the EU and the UK?

Weds 11 July 10.00-11.00 BST. ETZ Green H2 Test & Demo Facility online stakeholder workshop

Hydrogen Scotland industry and academic members with an interest in the testing and demonstration of green hydrogen technologies are invited to join this interactive stakeholder workshop. ETZ Ltd, based in Aberdeen’s Energy Transition Zone, are seeking market feedback on their flagship hydrogen project, the Green Hydrogen Test & Demonstration Facilities (GHTDF). The GHTDF will provide purpose-built testing and demonstration facilities dedicated to hydrogen; providing industry with flexible testing spaces which are highly instrumented and metered, to validate performance and reliability of various hydrogen components which may include activities such as performance testing of electrolysers, hydrogen quality testing, valve testing, flow meter calibration and testing, and system integration testing. This interactive workshop will share details of the GHTDF and how it fits within the broader Energy Transition Zone. It will then gather stakeholder feedback on the proposed GHTDF concept, the technical scope of the GHTDF, and the strategic fit of the GHTDF against current and future hydrogen market needs.

Mon 15 July 13:00-14:00 BST. Siemens Digital webinar on Hydrogen Production Simulation & Digital Twinning

This Hydrogen Scotland webinar on Teams with Siemens Digital is about using simulation and digital twinning to streamline production processes. Francois Iker, Siemens DISW—EMEA Business Developer Systems Simulation, will discuss the value of systems simulation in every phase of green hydrogen production projects, from the initial idea to the operation. This webinar will be of interest to engineering and technical managers interested in the development of hydrogen-related products: production, transport, and usage (refuelling stations, fuel cells, etc.). Replicating real-world plant operations in virtual simulations can help engineers and operators fine-tune designs, identify potential issues early on, and streamline production processes. This not only reduces commissioning times but also slashes production costs, making hydrogen production more economically viable.

Thurs 18 July 17:00-21:00 BST. Hydrogen Scotland’s annual Members Garden Party in Edinburgh

Building on our very popular inaugural Garden Party last year, this will be a great opportunity to meet other Hydrogen Scotland members. We’re hoping that better weather this year will allow us to make full use of the garden… Refreshments and a light buffet will be provided and there will also be space available in the hall for about 20 pull-up banners. The Members Garden Party is in the hall and garden next to our office at 14 Johnston Terrace in central Edinburgh, located about 150m from Edinburgh Castle, near the top of the Royal Mile. To help with networking opportunities we will circulate an attendee list to all registered participants in advance of the event.
