Chamber of Commerce responds to Dounreay funding announcement
Commenting upon the announcement by the NDA on its planned forward funding for Dounreay, Trudy Morris, Chief Executive of Caithness Chamber of Commerce said:
"We welcome this announcement by the NDA that funding for Dounreay has been assured at £150m per annum to achieve interim end state.
In the present climate of government cuts we believe this is a good outcome. We know there were other scenarios on the table, which were much worst. We appreciate that this much less than needed for some of the projects on site, however we believe through dialogue and partnership between DSRL and the supply chain the impact of this can be minimised.
The Chamber will be working with DSRL and the local supply chain to ensure the best possible outcome for the county."
