COLLABORATION AND SOLUTIONS ARE KEY FOR NORTH RENEWABLE ENERGY OPPORTUNITIES

Caithness Chamber of Commerce welcomes the collaboration of Caithness businesses with a strategy group involved in regenerating the Nigg yard.  The strategy group, which includes Caithness companies NES Engineering Ltd, Intech Power Ltd and Port Services (Engineering) Ltd, are seeking to find solutions to the stalemate over the Nigg yard in order to capture renewable energy opportunities.

Trudy Morris, Chief Executive of the Caithness Chamber of Commerce said “We welcome Caithness involvement in this initiative as we believe that all areas of the north of Scotland need to collaborate in order to take advantage of the opportunities in the renewable energy sector.  We believe urgent action is needed by the public sector to resolve the stalemate over the yard so that these opportunities are not lost.”

She added “Any Nigg initiative can hugely benefit from the wide range of skills and expertise that Caithness businesses have to offer and we encourage companies to collaborate both at Nigg and in Orkney to secure a renewable energy future for all.”

Members of the strategy group have the in house capabilities to take over, operate and develop the Nigg Fabrication Yard as a multi user facility to benefit not only the local and wider Highland economy but the Scottish economy as well.
